Mr Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of MSDE & Education, inaugurated the state-of-the-art Auditorium of Skill Development Institute (SDI), Bhubaneswar in its sprawling campus at the foothills of the famed Barunei Hills, the symbol of valour and courage of the warriors of Odisha who stood up against the might British Raj, recently. The event formally opened the Auditorium on the day after Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami, which symbolises the victory of good over evil, as SDI-B aspires to empower the youth of Odisha with the tool of skill and knowledge, thus making the goodness of skills and knowledge triumph over the evil of lack of skills, unemployment and poverty.
SDI-B, the brainchild of the Minister, has been championing the cause of holistic learning since its inception. The newest addition to the world-class facilities at SDI-B is a state-of-the-art auditorium with a seating capacity of 1200, the second largest in the state of Odisha. Mr Pradhan extorted the capacity crowd of students, members of academia and industry to utilise the facility to the maximum so that all stakeholders benefit from the excellent infrastructure and students of SDI-B should not feel less in terms of facilities offered by other institutes of repute. The success of an institution like SDI-B can only be measured against the number of excellent employment opportunities each student gets at the end of the successful completion of the training programme. Echoing this sentiment, Mr Pradhan called upon each and everyone to fulfil this objective and said, “We should not rest till every student of SDI-B becomes spoilt for choices at the end of his/her training programme at SDI-B”. The auditorium has been aptly named as Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar Kaushala Vikash Sabhagara, in honour of the native warrior hero Mr Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar.
In his welcome address, Mr Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, Chairman, SDI-B and Director (HR), IndianOil, elaborated on the vision of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s skill India mission and SDI-B’s critical role in fructifying the vision.
Mr Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, CEO, SDI-B, proposed the vote of thanks.
